The Diamond From Empty Space

Fire And Ice: Stardust's Comet Samples Baffle Scientists
When NASA’s Stardust probe brought home a full canister of comet samples, everyone was quite excited, because those tiny bits could provide essential information regarding the birth of comets and even of our solar system. However, nobody really expected what they did find when studying the samples.

Thus, "Remarkably enough, we have found fire and ice," said Donald Brownlee, Stardust principal investigator and professor of astronomy at the University of Washington in Seattle, according to NASA. The returned samples show high-temperature materials from the coldest part of our solar system.
